Halloween and a whole lot more...

I'm sorry Aysha that I didn't post sooner for ya. I figured that you being away in Kenya you probably wouldn't have access to a computer and that would buy me some time....ha, caught me. That's ok though, because it's been on my mind.

Halloween was great. Dave was away in Qualicum Beach taking a course for work, so I took Ryan and Shane over to the McAuley's house to trick or treat. Ryan didn't do too many houses before he said he was tired and wanted to come home. Fine by me. It was the perfect night. No rain, a little chilly, but for a typical Halloween night - perfect. We hung out there for a little bit afterwards and then came home as Ryan had school the next morning.....bummer mommy.

From November 4-7, Shane and I were in Ontario. We flew to Ottawa and then rented a car to drive up to Petawawa to clean out dad's house. Dad's neighbour Dave was a tremendous help. I couldn't have got it all done without him. We packed all day on the Sunday and then Dave went over at 6am on the Monday to start cleaning. I wanted to let Shane sleep as long as he wanted as all the travel was starting to get the better of him. We made it to dad's around 11am. We made a run to the dump of all the stuff that the garbage man doesn't take. We drive the half hour out there to find out that I forgot my wallet back at the house. All for $10. I drove all the way back to the house to get the wallet and then back to the dump. Then there were some items that the Salvation Army had forgotten when they picked up the houses' contents so I wanted to run that over to them. Apparently there was a massive fire the week before and 12 families were burned out of their homes and same old story, none of them had insurance. The Salvation Army was taking any and all donations. (When I had called from BC a couple weeks prior, they said that they would only take some items depending on what they were) This way they took everything as these families were in desperate need for every household basic. Win/win situation. I did pack a box to ship to myself of photo albums and some papers and some war stuff I found that I wanted to keep. So I took that to the greyhound. Can you believe it, I sent it from Petawawa on the 6th and it arrived in Chilliwack on the 9th. She had told me it could take a week to 10 days. Dave laughed and said it almost beat me home. haha. Anyway, by the time we did all that running around and got back to dad's it was about 4:20pm. Shane was acting all clingy and was making it hard for me to do anything. Then I started thinking of all the things that I needed to do including taking back the rental car. It had to be back that night because I flew out of Ottawa super early on tuesday. I called the rental place and they closed at 6pm. I asked how long it would take me to get there from Petawawa and he said speed limit would take about 2 hours. Most people can make it in an hour and a half. If I left now, I might just make it. Whew! I told Dave that I had to go and leave him to finish everything else up. He said no problem and off we went. At about ten minutes to six I called the rental place again to figure out how much further I had to drive to get there. No answer. I called again in another five minutes....no answer. By this time, I'm cursing thinking to myself, "if he left early because it was slow or something, so help me." Not that I couldn't just drop the keys off and chance what they would bill me. So not the point, I wanted to know exactly how much. I made it there by 5:59pm. He was just outside locking up the cars and measuring the gas pumps. Whew! again. Took a cab to the hotel and Shane and I had supper in the restaurant and then packed and crashed to get up like 4 hours later to get to the airport. I was so tired. Still am actually.

The house is officially sold as of today. I had given the freezer away and forgot that I was supposed to leave it for the new people. Well, didn't I get dinged for $200. It wasn't even worth that. It was like the width of a door tiny. Oh well, just glad I don't have to worry about the place through the winter etc. That would be stressful. Hopefully, the cheque gets here so I can finally pay off dad's bills. After that is all said and done, there really isn't anything left sadly. I wish there were but there isn't. At least his estate will be free and clear and closed. Closure. A good thing. I feel good about accomplishing everything I set out to do regarding dad's estate.

Now, I'm gearing up for two craft fairs. What the hell was I thinking? I have no idea when I'm going to find the time to make all these cards etc. I have no idea how much stuff I should make as I have never done a craft fair before. I just hope I don't sell everything on the first one as the second one is the following week. I don't want to have to stay up to the wee hours every night for that week just to build up stock again for the next craft fair. I can't wait until those are done. I just wanted to do this to earn a few extra bucks for Christmas. Someone slap me.....:) Anyway, hopefully blogger will now let me upload some pictures, here goes nothing.

Most Addictive Game Ever!

This game of dodging blue and black squares certainly appears simple enough, until you realize that it takes an Air Force pilot to average more than 60 seconds doing it.

My best time is about 23 seconds.....how did you do?

Guess What?
