Work well under pressure

Well, do you ever feel that you have this running list of things you want to do in your head and as you do them, still feel a little behind? That's the way I feel right now. I just feel like I need a good swift kick in the behind to get rolling again.

The field trip to Dicken's Sweet Market was a lot of fun! I took some pictures, I'll upload if blogger lets me. I would like to go there for tea and dessert some time. There is so much to see there. It is a sweet shop, part museum and tea house. Very cute. There is so much stuff jammed packed everywhere that there wasn't enough time to see everything. Santa was there and gave jelly beans to the kids and a little elf gave the kids stick candy as we headed back for the bus. They were also given hot cocoa and cookies after their visit with Santa. Very well done field trip. Go there if you can!

Also started my baking this weekend. I like to give baking as presents. I had Ryan paint a terra cotta pot and I made flower cookies to make Ryan's teacher (Mrs. Greenwood) a cookie bouquet for Christmas. I made some extra flower cookies for his music teacher too, (Mrs. McMaster) Ryan was so excited to take them to school this morning. I was hoping to take them a little later in the week but wanted to get them done over the weekend while Dave was home. Ryan didn't want to wait so we took them their goodies this morning. Ryan and I also found a use for the 3x3 cards I had made for the craft fairs. Give them to his friends! I filled them out and he signed his name on 21 of them plus he signed two cards for his teachers. He loved doing it. We also attached a small candy cane to each of his friends cards. I gave those to Mrs. Greenwood to hand out for me. Big thanks to her.

I had some extra flower cookies (sugar cookies) so I made them into snowflakes. They turned out quite cute. Sorry, forgot to take pictures and feeling rather lazy to do so now. I still have a big ball of sugar cookie dough left to roll out and cut and bake. Maybe while Shane is sleeping. I have other baking I still want to do. I hope to get it done by tomorrow as I want to ship off my Uncle Gary's, Betty's and Greg's present tomorrow by bus. I just have to wait for one item for Greg which I can get tomorrow. I hope for tomorrow, but anticipate Wednesday. High hopes.

Other than that, Ryan and Dave cut down our Christmas tree and Ryan helped me decorate it. I finished decorating the mantle and the banister. I just have to put out my knick knacks and clean up all my stamping stuff out of the dining room as I'll actually get to use it this year. That and my good china and crystal. I'm so excited.

I'm sure everyone is very busy, being that time of year. Merry Christmas to you and Happy New Year if I don't get a chance to blog again.

First bit of decorating.

Here is a picture of the cookie bouquets my matron of honor and bridesmaids and I made as centerpieces and favours for Dave's and my wedding in 2004.

Well, it has been a busy day. I helped Ryan's class to decorate their gingerbread houses. It was a lot of fun but exhausting. All that energy in one room, and sugar, and excitement! Whoa, I need a nap. After I put Shane for a nap, I had Ryan paint a flower pot for Mrs. Greenwood. We are making her a Cookie bouquet as a Christmas gift. If you were at my wedding, you know what they look like. I also spent a little time decorating my mantle, now that I have one. I think it turned out ok. What do you think. Honestly. I have yet to pull out the stockings to hang. We'll probably get our tree this weekend, so when we pull out the decorations, that's where the stockings are too. I'll upload a final picture when that is done. Here is the mantle.

Breakfast with Santa

Well, the Langley Craft Fair went well! I was quite pleased with the outcome and I still have stuff left over, enough for my personal use. Very happy about that. Thank you for all of your help and support Sue! I had a wonderful day with you even though we got diddly crafting done!

Last Saturday was also Breakfast with Santa. This is the first year Ryan was excited to see Santa and he actually sat on his lap. He asked Santa for an grater. We'll see if Santa comes through. ;) Shane on the other hand was none too impressed with jolly old St. Nick. So, I guess it will be another five years before he's willing to sit on his lap. I put Shane in the same outfit Ryan wore for his first Christmas. Soooo cute. Nah, they're not brothers. I'm glad that it fit him. Not much else exciting happening here. Helping Sue with her Christmas cards. She's coming over on Saturday so we can get her 41 cards done. She has chosen to do the faux postage card that I did. If you want to see it, you'll have to link to my craft blog. I've got the postage all cut out, stamped and watercolored. That's the time consuming part. Now we have to emboss the actual cards (easy) and mount and staple the ribbon to the Let It Snow! parts. It shouldn't take us long at all.

I've also volunteered to help Ryan's kindergarten class with gingerbread houses. Anyone remember the 15 large houses I made for a pampered chef party? If I remember correctly, Kelli was just pregnant with Jordan, so 7 years ago. Insane. The houses I'm doing for the class are made out of graham crackers, so they are very cute and quite small. The other Kindergarten class liked the idea and asked if they could do it too. That means a total of 44 houses. Yikes! What the hell was I thinking? I do however, have until next Thursday. They want to devote Thursday to decorating. I'll make up the royal icing for the kids and take it to school that day. I have already made 8 houses today, so will take to school tomorrow. I have no room for them. Hopefully the school does. Anyhow, that's about it for now. Catch up again soon!
